Sandi Horwitz, Congregational Music Leader
Editor, The Shofar

n Sandi and her family have been involved with Oraynu since 1985, and she has served on the Board of Directors for most of those years. A graduate in Psychology from York University, she has been singing, performing and playing guitar for most of her life.
n Sandi was a preschool music resource specialist for more than 20 years, has worked as a publicist, and taught guitar privately.    A composer (primarily of kids' music), she has also written songs especially for the B'nai Mitzvah program and, in collaboration with others, for Oraynu observances.  She has also been a co-editor/writer of High Holiday ceremonies and a new Passover haggadah for Oraynu, with Barry Olshen and Lisa Wright, entitled Roots and Branches A Humanist Haggadah for Passover.  Click here for more information on this haggadah.
n Sandi organizes our High Holiday Choir each year, serves as music director for the B'nai Mitzvah ceremony, and has felt especially honoured to sing the "Kol Nidrei" many times. She serves as song leader for our Oneg Shabbats and many other programs. She has released two CDs of her own music and spearheaded the recording of ORAYNU SINGS, a compilation of songs used for our holiday events and B'nai Mitzvah.
n Sandi also edits Oraynu's bi-monthly newsletter, The Shofar. To view a copy of the latest issue, click here.
