REACH OUT WITH APPLES

ORAYNU CHILDREN COLLECTING APPLES FOR THE NORTH YORK HARVEST FOOD BANK
On Sunday, September 30, the entire school will be participating in an apple picking field trip. This trip is in place of regular programming. The school building will be closed.

This is a congregation-wide event! Bring extended family, grandparents and friends!

Upon arrival at Applewood, please gather with your child’s teacher. Each class will fill a separate classroom apple bag for our school wide tzedakah project, North York Harvest Food Bank

TIME: 9:30 a.m sharp (the parking lot fills up quickly!)
PLACE: Applewood Farm Winery, 12416 McCowan Rd., Stouffville
COST: $10 per person admission (children under 3 and seniors free)
DONATION: $5 per child towards classroom apple bag (to be collected at the event)

MEETING PLACE: The hay bale “mountain” at the north end of the playground. Once we gather at the hay bales, the children will be divided into their classroom groups. Parents are to accompany their child’s classroom group. You must remain with your group until one classroom apple bag has been filled for our tzedakah project.

On the morning of the trip, all participating families will be responsible for paying $5 per student to their teacher for the tzedakah project.  Apples that you pick for your own use are: $20 for a 20 pound bag (40-50 apples)

TRANSPORTATION: Transportation to and from Applewood Farm is to be provided by parents.

AFTER THE PROGRAM: This program will end 12:30 PM. We will not be returning to the school.

APPLE PICKING WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN OR SHINE

Any questions? Please contact your teacher or Steve Shabes at 416-636-4740 or stevenshabes@yahoo.com.

Another fun suggestion: Bring some water and a utensil to cut some apples for your children in the orchard!

We look forward to our fun and meaningful trip!
