High Holidays

Celebrating the High Holidays with Oraynu is always a unique experience as we observe Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with philosophical reflections, evocative poetry and prose, a Torah reading and beautiful music … rather than prayer. We create our own liturgy, and traditional readings and songs are often adapted to be consistent with humanistic ideas.

On Rosh Hashanah, the themes of t’fillah, t’shuvah and tzedakah are explored. The singing of Kol Nidrei accompanied by professional musicians and our choir is always a highlight of the Erev Yom Kippur observance, as well as our moving Nizkor memorial section. On Yom Kippur Day, we inspire a commitment to action with our Stories of Transformation about Jewish heroes and heroines who have changed the world.

We offer adult services and children’s programs.  Click HERE for more info/to register for this year’s services.
