Join us for our Winter 2026 Adult Ed Series with Rabbi Eva Goldfinger: Texts and their Influence on Jewish Thought and Practice

We’ll get together online, to study Biblical and Rabbinic texts, and contemporary Jewish writings – and how women’s voices then and now have affected Judaism. Let’s discuss the significance of these texts for us and feel free to share your favorite Jewish poem, song or short story and how it might have influenced you.

THIS IS THE REGISTRATION PAGE FOR SESSION 1: Wednesday, January 14, 2026 –  Torah Texts and their Influences.

TORAH TEXTS: We will examine some of pivotal stories or segments of the Torah like the story of the Flood/Noach, the Binding of Isaac/The Akedah, the Sh’ma Yisrael/Hear oh Israel. We will also look at a Psalm and some readings from Proverbs to determine what meaning all these texts might have had for the writers and anthologizers, and then examine how later interpretations and commentary determined their ultimate impact on Judaism. Come and share your interpretations and the meaning we can derive today from these texts.
